We hosted our very first virtual CIOB Student Festival on the 7-8 April 2021. The aim of the event was to bring together all our student members from across the world to inspire, inform and celebrate this strong membership community.
In October 2020 CIOB submitted evidence to The Housing, Communities and Local Government (HCLG) Committee’s inquiry into the future of the planning system in England.

I am the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) supervisor at the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) National Construction College, managing a team of assessors delivering Construction Supervisory and Management qualifications from level 3 to level 7.
The Professional Development Programme (PDP), is a great measure for recently graduated and or final year students setting foot in the construction sector. The programme will support young professionals to build essential competencies that will enhance their career prospects and provide excellent reporting for your intuitional employability data.
I have worked in the construction industry since I was old enough to pick up a trowel. My journey started working with my family, before moving onto college to gain a recognised award in trowel occupations. I applied my craft, working in self-employed and employed roles with various builders, small and large, before advancing my career, and going into teaching. I get a great sense of satisfaction passing my skills and knowledge onto others and also wanted to give back to the industry.
In December 2020, we launched our Education Bulletin, in which I wrote about our work in developing a brand-new Education Engagement Model. This model is a strategic fit and response to the CIOB’s corporate strategy plan 2020-23
A constant theme throughout my time with the CIOB, is being at the forefront of change and learning all the time about how deep the institute reaches into the lives and careers of its members.
In 2015, a review was undertaken of the non-chartered grades with the aim of restoring the balance of chartered to non-chartered members and to address the “revolving-door issue” of people moving in and out of non-chartered grades whose entry criteria were based solely on qualifications (HNC for the Associate Grade and HND for the Incorporate Grade) which also had no competencies built around them
