About the Role

As our Business Development Manager, your primary focus will be engaging with companies and large organisations to secure corporate memberships and drive new business. You will work to bring organisations into membership, champion the chartered journey, and open pathways for individual memberships within these organisations. Additionally, you will ensure excellent account management practices to foster retention, cross-sell CIOB’s products and services, and grow our influence across the Northern region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Engagement: Establish and develop strategic relationships with companies, promoting chartered status and bringing organisations into membership.
  • Driving Membership Growth: Increase membership at both corporate and individual levels, working with large organisations to open doors for individual membership.
  • Account Management: Maintain strong relationships with existing members, ensuring high retention rates through excellent account management and service delivery.
  • Cross-Selling: Identify opportunities to cross-sell CIOB’s portfolio, including events, sponsorships, Academy courses, and educational offerings.
  • Collaboration: Work with regional colleagues to strengthen CIOB’s influence and recognition, aligning activities to regional and organisational goals.
  • Market Insight: Gather and report industry intelligence, providing insights into local market trends, competition, and opportunities to the Super Region matrix team.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional influencing and negotiating abilities, with the capacity to engage with diverse audiences and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven Business Development Experience: A track record of success in business development, consultative sales, account and relationship management, and achieving targets.
  • Strategic Approach: Demonstrated ability to present to and engage senior decision-makers within organisations, with a focus on winning business.
  • Commercial Awareness: An understanding of the construction and built environment sector or experience within a professional body is preferred.
  • Professionalism and Drive: A motivated and results-oriented approach with high levels of integrity and professionalism.
  • Flexibility and Mobility: A full clean driving licence and access to a car are essential, along with the willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
