Toby Ward

Toby is a Chartered Construction Manager with 25 years experience across consultancy and client side roles, in both the private and public sector. He is currently Head of Estates Development at Sheffield Hallam University, leading the multi disciplinary team and the development and delivery of the estate strategy and university's £435m Campus Plan across Sheffield and London.

He is responsible for the delivery of all capital and revenue projects, setting contract, value and procurement strategies and ensuring construction health, safety, environment and quality across the university’s 180,000sqm multi-campus estate - and for developing best practice, innovative procurement approaches and exemplar project delivery to support the university’s vision, strategy and civic university status.

Toby was awarded CIOB Client of the Year in 2022 and in the same year won the Association of University Director of Estates (AUDE) Estates and Facilities Team of the Year. Both awards are testament to the innovative and sector-first procurement approach of the Hallam Alliance, a long-term multi-discipline delivery vehicle which adopts a pioneering approach to collaboration and project team integration.
