Update on our 2020 AGM – information for CIOB members
The CIOB Board of Trustees has agreed a June 2020 date for the Institute's AGM, which will be carried out via an online poll.
At the CIOB Board of Trustees’ meeting held last month [Friday 24 April 2020], the Trustees agreed that the Institute’s Annual General Meeting will take place on 24 June 2020. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the Institute is not in a position to hold face-to-face meetings (although that is a requirement of our byelaws); therefore, our President Professor Charles Egbu called for a poll to be carried out in accordance with bye law 49. The poll will determine the outcome of the AGM. All CIOB Chartered members will be able to vote in the poll.
The Institute is currently working with Mi-Voice (the CIOB’s partner for Trustee elections) to develop the online voting platform for the poll, which will be launched on 3 June 2020. The CIOB requests that members look out for notification via email in due course.
The Board of Trustees hopes that members will understand the approach taken. This is the first time all Chartered members, wherever they are in the world, will be able to take part in a CIOB AGM poll, demonstrating that the CIOB can be agile and is enabling the Institute to continue its business and demonstrate good governance.
