The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has announced its first ‘Safer Buildings’ conference to raise awareness of the culture change that is needed to ensure that the buildings we create and manage are safe for those who occupy them.

Delegates will hear from government ministers and industry experts on the progress being made on the Building Safety Bill as well as the work that is ongoing to raise levels of competency across the industry and increase resident engagement.

This conference will bring together perspectives on the new regulatory system that will govern the design, construction and occupation of higher-risk buildings, described as the biggest change in building safety in a generation.

Confirmed speakers include Lord Stephen Greenhalgh, Minister of State (for Building Safety and Fire), Dame Judith Hackitt DBE, author of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety and Peter Baker, Chief Inspector of Buildings.

The conference will take place on Thursday 26 May 2022 from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. in London. For more information or to register please visit the events section of the CIOB website.
