CIOB presents ‘Building a Legacy’, a collaboration with ITN Productions

‘Building a Legacy’ will bring to life how buildings are not just bricks and glass, but the heart and soul of our everyday lives. Buildings are places we learn, develop, make memories, connect with loved ones and continuously inspire us. The Construction Manager role is integral to creating this bond and they have a significant impact on the lives of people who spend time in their creations.

Launching November 2018

The CIOB and ITN Productions are producing a news and current affairs-style programme exploring the role of the Construction Manager and the impact buildings have on lives today, and for future generations.

By exploring buildings of all sizes and purposes, ‘Building a Legacy’ will show the extraordinary care and attention a Construction Manager invests in a project and how their role often becomes a labour of love. By demonstrating the importance of the roles played in construction that bring these buildings to life, the programme will look at the people, innovations, technology and next generation that are behind the buildings changing the quality of people’s lives.

Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, the news-style piece will be anchored by Natasha Kaplinsky to combine interviews and reports with sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations.

‘Building a Legacy’ will premiere in November and form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring CIOB members, industry partners, government partners, as well as relevant journalists, writers and bloggers.

Chris Blythe OBE, Chief Executive, CIOB said: “Within our membership we see time and again the innovative thinking and passionate leadership required to be a modern professional construction manager. Our partnership with ITN Productions will reveal the construction managers story, showing how critical their contribution is to the quality and sustainability of any completed building.”

Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the Chartered Institute of Building to produce a programme exploring the extraordinary role that the Construction Manager plays in the lives of us all. We’re excited to embark on the programme and engage with professionals throughout the sector and beyond to tell that story. We hope the content can be used to share remarkable stories, highlight new innovations and look at the next generation of construction professionals.”
