Summary

This event is a showcase for co-professional working in Wales where the historic environment and the built environment meet.

There will be translation available.  

At lunch, there will be opportunities for networking.  

After lunch Cadw will host a walking tour of recent developments in Caernarfon, including the King’s Gate at Caernarfon Castle, The Slate Quay and the new station for the Welsh Highland Railway that will explain how the historic environment was considered in their planning applications. 

The learning outcomes are to:  

  • Improve understanding of how the historic environment fits into the planning and development process  
  • Build new and stronger partnerships with co-professions  
  • Find ways to influence better decision-making by clients 
  • Understand how to deliver better outcomes for heritage assets and for society

Event Programme 9.30AM – Coffee and registration 10.00AM – Welcome 10.05AM – Opening remarks from CIfA 10.20AM – The Welsh Government historic environment updates on Historic Impact Assessment in Wales and The Setting of Historic Assets in Wales 11.00AM – Co-professional panel discussion with Q&A to discuss how these documents affect the planning and development process in Wales.  12.00PM – Closing remarks 12.15PM – Lunch 1.30PM – Walking tour of Caernarfon facilitated by Cadw with an estimated end time of between 3PM - 4PM.
