In collaboration with CICES, this webinar features leading sustainability experts from ARUP, Gammon Construction and Design Shanghai.

Held on 29th of August 2024 (4:30pm HKT - 5:30pm HKT), this is a joint collobration with CICES, it is the first joint webinar as part of CIOB Hong Kong's Executive Exchange series.

This webinar will be focused on accelerating sustainable construction practices globally. Leading experts from ARUP, Gammon Constructions, and Design Shanghai will share their expertise.

Key takeaways will highlight the importance of innovative materials, data-driven design, and collaborative public-private partnerships as critical elements in driving the transformation towards sustainable construction excellence.

  • Dr. Bruce Chong (ARUP) - Will provide a strategic, design-stage, and city government perspective on sustainability, climate resilience, and technology enablement.
  • Mr. Eddie Tse (Gammon Constructions) - Will provide details on construction-stage carbon and materials-related aspects, such as new green alternative materials, Gammon's innovative construction techniques, and technologies for carbon reduction.
  • Shaun Francis Brodie - Will provide an examination of the practical applications and considerations for both landlords and tenants and highlight the potential commercial premiums associated with green assets compared to non-green assets

Speakers:

Amanda Williams (Moderator) - CIOB : Amanda Williams started her career as a news journalist but transitioned to become an environmental professional over the past 18 years. She has worked in diverse sectors, including higher education, politics, defense, and engineering. Most recently, Amanda served as Head of Sustainability at Spirax-Sarco Engineering, leading their sustainability strategy. Since 2023, she has been the Head of Environmental Sustainability for the Chartered Institute of Building, overseeing their sustainability initiatives.

Dr. Bruce Chong - ARUP : Bruce is a Fellow and Director of Climate & Sustainability Group of Arup, focusing on formulating strategic approaches on zero carbon, carbon neutrality, resources efficiency, green infrastructure, smart and resilient city planning.

Eddie Tse - Gammon Construction: Eddie has over 26 years of construction and environmental experience, specializing in areas like contamination remediation, carbon/energy management, and renewable energy. He has worked on diverse infrastructure projects at Gammon and holds leadership roles on industry committees, including Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Construction Association's Environment Committee.

Shaun Francis Brodie - Design Shanghai: Shaun Brodie is the Head of Research Content, Greater China and the Head of BDS and Research, East China. With 22 years of experience in China, Shaun has a deep understanding of the country and its property market. In his role as Head of Research Content for the Greater China region, Shaun works closely with Cushman & Wakefield's business lines to produce timely whitepapers for the company's clients.
