What do these words mean to you?

Skilful, Experienced, Knowledgeable, Admiration, Recognition, Ability, Influencer, Pioneer, Role Model.

These are just some attributes that CIOB and the industry recognise in a Chartered Fellow.

At CIOB, we recognise educators across the spectrum are leading on and delivering innovation in different shapes and sizes, to bring about higher levels of positive impact to the community they serve; this includes their learners, their partners and most importantly the public.

Becoming a Chartered Fellow demonstrates on a global scale your proven strategic abilities, people expertise and business impact. Confirming you are committed to inspiring and shaping the future through your stimulating leadership skills, not shying away in sharing your expertise and influencing key changes that drive change and create value for your organisation and wider afield.

We believe a CIOB Chartered Fellow status is a symbolic opportunity to join a global platform to encourage change, shape policy and deepen your engagement within the education and industry further.

What are the Fellowship pathway requirements?

If you possess at least 5 years’ experience in leading an organisation, leading people, and contributing to the industry, communities or society and have responsibilities that extend to working with sector stakeholders, then you might like to think about applying for Fellowship, which is our highest grade of membership. You can apply for Fellowship either as an upgrade from Chartered Membership (MCIOB) or as a Direct Entrant (Non-Member).

Candidates will, (a) need to be in a role which has significant strategic responsibilities for people and organisations; your role must be a senior position within your organisation, with decision-making responsibilities for both your direct line reports and/or the organisation’s strategic objectives. (b) need to have responsibilities which extend to sector stakeholders; you must be able to demonstrate your responsibility, input, and commitment to working with other stakeholders either within the industry or industry specific charities, including CIOB, or the public sector or Not for Profit (NFP) projects such as schools, universities, communities, or Government. (c) need to demonstrate a significant contribution or influence of standards across your organisation, as well as the promotion of ethical and social responsibility within your organisation. (d) be able to show that you have implemented standards, developed strategy and/or culture change across your organisation, and are able to demonstrate the impact it has had.

How long is the process?

From your initial enquiry to completing the programme, many of our successful candidates have attained Chartered Fellowship within six months and our team of experienced programme professionals are available to support and guide you throughout your journey. You do not need a degree qualification, nor do you need to be in any form of Membership with CIOB to apply for Fellowship.
