CIOB Vision 2030 - Our latest update
With respect, I must agree with Jim Rohn. We all think that we need wider opportunities, at the same time, we fail to concentrate and embark ourselves to fit in a prospective career line. The CIOB 2030 Vision project was set up to help address this – by setting out a strategy, through in-depth consultations with CIOB members about what we are going to face in the Built Environment over the next decade and what we can do to address these issues proactively.

In October 2020, Rachael Keeble announced the updates of the first wave consultation that happened over the summer of 2020 with the CIOB members participating in workshops conducted by their respective hub. The results are out now and worth the wait.
Members of various CIOB hubs held a period of consultation and conducted numerous working groups to engage with the wider CIOB membership body on a regional and global scale. By engaging the CIOB members across the globe for the consultation round helped in achieving a global mindset for the filtered down topics. Based on the data received from the working groups the CIOB Vision 2030 team undertook the task of identifying the major topics and prioritizing the topics based on the frequenting or weighting placed on each topic during the consultation process.
THE 8 KEY THEMES AND TOPICS
- Diversity & Inclusion
- Environmental & Sustainability
- Health, Safety & Wellbeing
- Industry Culture
- Macro Economics
- Quality & Standards
- Skills Gap & Next Generation
- Technology
The next move is to conduct a second round of consultations on the identified topics. The second round of consultation will include well-known subject matter experts for the related subjects, as well as CIOB member from all over the globe.
Throughout the month of May, members of the CIOB community around the world will have the opportunity to ‘Deep Dive' into a particular theme to envision where we are now, anticipate where we want to be in 2030, and map out how we can bridge the gap between the present and the future. The workshop will be supported by a member of the CIOB 2030 Vision Steering Group and the CIOB hub members. CIOB members who wish to engage to be active in achieving the global perspectives for the second round of consultation can contact the CIOB hub staff members.
Your vision is our main objective; we aspire to render the prospective Built Environment, a better place for everyone involved. There is more to say next time, I remind you that we are optimistic about a promising and empowered future. For the meantime, stay healthy and stay tuned.
