Summary

The National Trust are re-roofing Grade 1 listed house Coughton Court. Join us to gain an insight into this £3 million conservation project.

Coughton Court is a Grade 1 listed house set in 25 acres of grounds in North Warwickshire and has a history connected to the Gunpowder Plot. The property is currently undergoing a £3m widescale conservation project which will see repairs across the entirety of the house, addressing a backlog of deterioration and implementing improvements to prevent further decline. This includes significant re-roofing, window repairs, masonry and stonework repairs, as well as reinterpretation of the historic collection to allow visitors a new perspective on conservation and collection management whilst the property is disrupted by construction. The project will be ongoing for approximately 18 months between Autumn 2023 and Spring 2025.

The tour will provide the opportunity to explore the interior of the mansion which has been adapted throughout the project, including the reinstatement of the Edwardian vaulted ceiling to the Panelled Drawing Room, and access to construction of Phase 4 of the project on the eastern side of the South Wing.

Visitors are required to wear full PPE – steel cap boots, Hi-Viz and a hard hat. The property is unable to provide any PPE therefore all visitors must source their own. Access to the construction site will not be permitted without full PPE.

Please note - restricted access: – access to the scaffold is by stairs (and ladders) only and there is also stair access inside the mansion, on the internal tour.
